Take one ladies companion and add a financier, mix them in a mystery of ancient lore and murder and you have the recipe for I Thee Wed. I Thee Wed is simply one of the best historicals by Amanda Quick. It has the right blend of humor and suspense. I wouldn't recommend reading this while other people are asleep or you might wake them up from laughing. While reading I Thee Wed I kept trying to picture Vanzagaria in my head. The Vanza in a lot of ways reminds me of the way of the water in Deep Waters. I was left wondering if the Way of the Water was somehow a legacy from the Vanza tradition. From the time that Emma stepped into that wardrobe and encountered Edison you could almost feel the electricity between them through the pages. The same thing when Edison was talking to his acquaintance One Ear Harry, you could almost smell the stench from him. I had my nose crinkling just thinking about it. One Ear Harry is just one of the cast of characters that was as memorable as the hero/heroine. My personal favorite was his grandmother Victoria. The early scenes when he first went to see her had me wanting to yell at them to be stop being such bloody idiots. You could tell that the main reason they didn't get along was that they were too much alike. I sincerely hope you will run out and grab I Thee Wed, it is one of those books that you will want to reread over and over again.
